LAURIE MITCHELL

Hello! I'm an urban planner from the U.S. travelling the world to find a place (a radiant city, if you will) to move to where I can work and thrive. This blog and my professional goals focus on living car-free, preserving historic buildings, and creating livable communities for everyone. For specifics on me, check out my LinkedIn page

How did I end up with this blog? In April 2016, I set my eyes on life abroad: I left my job, sold my condo, gave away my possessions (except for my dog, Mango), and booked a one-way flight to Sweden in search of a new life. Now that I have officially become an economic migrant searching the world for a better life, one thing remains constant: I must keep moving forward. This blog will help me with that goal and I hope to document my experiences (both personal and professional) here. Enjoy!

Mango Mitchell

The one who keeps this little blog humming, Mango has been a loyal companion to me since I scooped him up as a puppy from the side of a dirt road eleven years ago as a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica.  Mango barks in many languages with Spanish being his native tongue, and he has been blessed with unusual front "plié" legs that give strangers pause to mindlessly ask, "WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIS FRONT LEGS?" Mango is a chill guy with an occasional bout of food aggression, and, much to his mum's delight, has come to love train rides as much as car rides.
